South Texas Underground Film is proud to announce that “Heroic Journey of the Gay Man” directed by Brett William Mauser as the winner of the 2011 Revolution Film Challenge. The 30 minute comedic satire from Ponderous Productions features Jade Esteban Estrada, Jay LaFarr and Craig Rainey.
The Revolution Film Challenge kicked off on October 7th at Revolution Bar and Grill in Corpus Christi with 12 teams answering the call. Filmmakers set up their productions in Corpus Christi, San Antonio and Austin with genres ranging from Comedy, Horror, Sci-fi and Romance. By the November 27th deadline, Mauser’s San Antonio based production would be the last man standing.
“Heroic Journey of the Gay Man” inspired by Joseph Campbells’ “Hero’s Journey” tells the story of a man coming to understand his homosexuality in epic fashion. The film was brilliantly filmed and edited by Mauser, Produced by Jake Jecmenek, Donna Swafford, Brett Mauser and Associate Produced by Craig Rainey.
Ponderous Productions in conjunction with South Texas Creative are currently filming Mauser’s next feature project “VOSOT” starring Craig Rainey, Sally Colombo, and Everette Henderson. The feature comedy, set for a Spring 2012 release, exposes the behind scenes antics of your average local television station.
South Texas Underground Film’s 2012 event calendar is currently in the works but are looking to have the Corpus Christi premiere of “Heroic Journey of the Gay Man” very soon.
